Moonlight Meadery, Londonderry, N.H., wants the public to know more about honey, honeybees and mead. And what better way to celebrate National Honey Month than with a series of free events?
Lecture on Honey and Mead, Derry Public Library, Derry, N.H.: Free honey sampling and lecture on honey and mead, the ancestor of fermented beverages. This event will take place at the Derry Public Library on Aug.17, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Berniece Van Der Berg, VP of Marketing for Moonlight Meadery will host the lecture and walk participants through the history of mead, the company, honey and challenges facing the honey bees. There will be honey sampling and a raffle to win an authentic Viking horn and a chance to sign up for a monthly newsletter with the chance to win a giant wine glass.

Moonlight Meadery: Free lesson on “How to homebrew mead like a Pro from a Pro.” Michael Fairbrother will host a session on how to homebrew mead at noon. Michael is a national ranked Beer Judge Certification Program (BJCP) Beer judge and founder and master mead maker at Moonlight Meadery. He has won many homebrew competitions and took Best of Show award at the International Mazer Cup with his winning blueberry, black currant, black cherry mead. He went pro in 2010 starting in his garage. Today the company produces over 80 varieties of meads and ciders and distributes to 44 states in the USA, nationally in Australia and Japan.
