Pros: Good color and clarity
Cons: The maple and honey flavors together didn't seem to pair well together.
Appearance: Excellent - (brilliant with outstanding color)
Smell: Acceptable - (slight aroma, pleasant)
Taste: Poor - (disagreeable flavors, poorly balanced, unpleasant texture)
Aftertaste: Objectionable - (unpleasant aftertaste)

When I first found this mead on the shelf, I was pretty excited because in my mind, the pairing of honey, maple syrup and black tea is an awesome concept for a mead.  However the overall flavor and aftertaste did not sit well with my palate.

Color and clarity are excellent, and there is a slight hint of maple in the aroma.  The first couple of sips seemed to be almost bitter at first, and not as sweet as I was expecting.  As I worked my way through the glass I poured, the bitterness didn't seem to be quite so apparent, but the overall flavor and aftertaste really didn't improve.  I found myself having to work at finishing the rest of the glass.

Overall, I wasn't really impressed with this mead.  I can't say that I wouldn't recommend it as it has won a couple Bronze awards in 2011 and 2012.  I am willing to admit that it's probably a great mead for other folks to try, but just didn't meet up to my initial expectations I had set for it when I bought it.
