Description:

This unique dessert mead is a simple reminder to stop and savor moments. The sweet honey notes are balanced by silky smooth Sumatra coffee.   This is luscious dessert style mead that pairs wonderfully with German chocolate cake, or tiramisu.   This mead came in 5th out of 353 entries at the 4th New England Regional Homebrew Competition, and took a 3rd place at the International Mazer Competition in the Open Mead Category.

Pros: Surprisingly awesome flavor. Not too sweet and not too dry.
Cons: None
Appearance: Excellent - (brilliant with outstanding color)
Smell: Excellent - (unmistakable characteristic aroma, outstanding)
Taste: Excellent - (unmistakable flavor; outstanding balance; overwhelming)
Aftertaste: Excellent - (lingering outstanding aftertaste)

I recently had dinner at a local restaurant in Manchester, New Hampshire and noticed on the drink menu was a couple meads from Moonlight Meadery.

One of them was Coffee in Bed. My first thought was, "ick...coffee and fermented honey??", however feeling adventurous, I decided to order up a glass.

To my surprise, it was awesome! The aroma was awesome - no sign of honey coming out of the glass, but an ever so subtle, mouth watering scent of coffee.

Color and clarity were excellent as most selections from Moonlight Meadery are and the taste; outstanding!

I really expected either a strong, overpowering flavor of coffee, or honey, but I really couldn't detect the flavor of honey in this mead. The coffee flavor was just right.  Not too much, and not too little.

I was having dinner with a friend and when he heard what I ordered, he made a wry face and told me I was crazy...until he tried it. He was surprised at how awesome it was.  If anyone ever suggested to me that I should try a coffee-flavored wine - I would have laughed.  Moonlight Meadery's Coffee in Bed - totally changed my opinion!
