California – A Mead Making Bootcamp will take place in the UC Davis, Leed Platinum Research and Teaching Winery on Thursday, Jan. 12, followed by the Beginner’s Introduction to Mead Making on Friday, Jan. 13 and Saturday, Jan. 14.
The day-long Mead Making Bootcamp will be led by university winemaker, Chik Brenneman and assistant winemaker Melissa Pellini. The cost for the course is $200. (AMMA members: $180).
The day will begin with a lecture/discussion on general mead-making skills using a traditional mead recipe. Students will spend the rest of the day in the winery making mead from mixing honey and water, through fermentation and finally, the bottling process. Breakfast and lunch are provided.
