VALPARAISO | A craft winery is on tap for downtown Valparaiso.
Misbeehavin’ Meads would be the second meadery in Indiana and one of only 150 in the country, according to owner Clint Wadsworth. He presented his plans Tuesday to the city’s Site Review Committee.
A meadery is a craft winery that focuses on honey wines. Three years ago, Wadsworth and his wife, Jill, identified a need for one in the region.
“It’s a beverage category that’s really growing,” Wadsworth said.
Wadsworth, a longtime craft beer fan who lives near downtown Valparaiso, identified mead as an up and coming category and began making it in his basement. He received such positive feedback he decided with his wife to open the region’s first meadery.
