On January 8,2016 I made a raspberry melomel with a SG of 1.11. By March 15, it had cleared, stopped fermentation, and had a SG of 1.06. I bottled 25bottles and corks inserted. They have been in a cool basement since. Then on August 22nd they started exploding- 5 bottles so far! It is like a sparkling wine now. What should I do, and what is causing this? I have made 4 batches of mead before and never had this problem.
Been a while since i posted in my blog. I am making 5 gallons of strawberry wine this weekend. ya i know its not a melomel but i still have some melomel left from last yr. Gonna try some new yeast this time . Some vintners harvest cy17. Its pricy compared to my red star but we will see. I still like cote de blanc for mead tho. I have 5 gallons of show mead that i racked off the GROSS lees that has been sitting in bulk since oct of 2015. I added 2 packets of chamomile tea to it about 2 weeks ago.
I haven't been on in a while, just wondering what all you folks have been making ? I have a 5 gallon batch of my Show Mead in secondary and a gallon and 1/2 of Blackberry wine in secondary. Also have 5 gallons of Skeeter Pee in primary right now.
Well i started a braggot last weekend .Seems to b fermenting well and i am anxious to bottle it in champagne bottles
Being retired has its advantages. One of them is you have a whole lot of time to fill with something either productive, or...unproductive. I did the un-productive stint already, so now its time to get off my ass and do something, or so my wife says.
I took a long nap one day, restful, and when I woke up, I decided I was going to be a brewer. So I got my wife's credit card, went to the local brew shop
