Allentown, PA mead maker wins top prize in national competition

An Allentown-based meadery has been named “Commercial Mead Maker of the Year” in a national competition.

The Colony Meadery was awarded the top prize at the Mead Free or Die competition held in New Hampshire on Saturday

The company also won five of the nine awards available at the fourth annual competition, according to Colony Meadery co-founder Greg Heller-LaBelle.

“We’re honored that our commitment to quality mead is resonating with customers, and now validated by our peers in competition,” he said.
